Citibank credit cards receive five-star rating by CANSTAR CANNEX

Sydney, 24 January 2012: Several Citibank credit cards have been singled out as providing best-in-market value for customers in the latest review by independent research provider CANSTAR CANNEX.

CANSTAR CANNEX sets the most respected benchmark for banking products, awarding five-star ratings to the best products in each category. This year, Citibank has taken out five-star ratings across four categories.

For the second consecutive year, the Citi Platinum Card was awarded a five-star rating in the 'Everyday Spender' category (for those who use their card for regular payments such as groceries) and the 'Big Spender' category (for high spend customers).

Five-star CANSTAR CANNEX ratings were also awarded to the Citibank Select credit card and the Emirates Citibank Platinum card in the 'Big Spender' category.

Julian Potter, Citibank's Director of Credit Cards said the independent recognition by CANNEX CANSTAR is a testimony to the bank's goal to provide best-in-class products.

"We want to offer the best products, particularly in the travel and premium space. In late 2011, we completely overhauled our credit card rewards program to give customers better value, more benefits and rewards and ultimately better products. In doing so, we also became the only bank to lower the annual fee on the Citibank Platinum card," Julian said.

"It's now fantastic to receive independent recognition that our products are hitting the mark in terms of providing customers with superior value. It was also great to see the Citibank Select card achieve recognition as we're the only bank to offer products on Visa's signature platform, providing an even higher tier of benefits above Platinum cards."

As part of Citibank's strategy to offer the country's best rewards program, the bank launched the Citibank Dining Program in 2011. The program gives every Citibank credit card customer a complimentary bottle of wine and bonus reward points per dollar spent when they use their Citibank card to pay meals at any of the 250 participating restaurants across the country.

More recently, Citibank has launched the first phase of the Citibank Travel Program, an online and telephone travel service to provide customers with travel rewards, exclusive offers and deals across the travel space including flights, accommodation, holidays, car rentals, cruises and entertainment ticketing.
