Eligible Transaction means any purchase excluding (but not limited to) Cash Advances, Balance Transfers, Special Promotions, BPAY payments, purchases of foreign currency and travellers cheques, transactions made in operating a business, payments to other Citi accounts, bank fees and charges such as interest and ATM charges, transactions made using Points and government related transactions. Government related transactions include transactions with government or semi-government entities, or relating to services provided by or in connection with government (for example but not limited to transactions made at Australia Post, payments to the Australian Taxation Office, council rates, motor registries, tolls, parking stations and meters, fares on public transport, fines and court related costs).

Please note that whether or not a transaction is an Eligible Transaction will be determined based on card scheme information ultimately provided either by the merchant (including individual outlets) or its financial institution (including information about the type of business conducted by the merchant). This means that, for example, spend with certain merchants may be characterised as spend with a government related entity and therefore not an Eligible Transaction, even if that merchant is not in fact a government related entity.

Citi Rewards Credit Cards offer you the choice of earning Qantas Frequent Flyer points1 on your Citi Signature or Citi Prestige Card by joining Citi Qantas Rewards. Your points will automatically be transferred to the Qantas Frequent Flyer program each month2 where you will enjoy the benefits of using your points to redeem from over 2,000 products, vouchers or experiences through the on-line Qantas Frequent Flyer Store or any available Classic Award flight with Qantas, Jetstar and participating partner airlines4. This program has an annual fee of $49 in addition to your card's standard annual fee.

Once you are enrolled in Citi Qantas Rewards, you will no longer be able to redeem rewards from the standard Citi Rewards Program.

To opt in to Citi Qantas Rewards:

  • You must be a current Citi Signature of Citi Prestige cardholder
  • Call CitiPhone to request to switch to the Citi Qantas Rewards Program
  • If you are not a current Citi Signature or Citi Prestige cardholder, you will need to apply for an upgrade3 before you are eligible to enrol in Citi Qantas Rewards. Subject to Citi's credit criteria.

  1. You must be a member of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program in order to earn or redeem Qantas Frequent Flyer points. Membership and points of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program are subject to the Terms and Conditions of that program. A joining fee applies.
  2. Subject to the Terms and Conditions of the Citi Qantas Rewards program. Membership of Citi Qantas Rewards does not entitle you to membership of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program.
