New appointment to Citibank Pty Ltd board
Sydney, 28 April 2005: Citibank Pty Ltd today announced the appointment of Richard (Dick) Warburton as non-executive director.
Mr Warburton is currently chairman of Caltex Australia Limited, Tandou Ltd, The Board of Taxation and HIH Claims Support Limited. He is a director of Note Printing Australia, Tabcorp Holdings Limited, Nufarm Limited and N M Rothschild & Sons (Aust) Ltd.
He also serves as a director on the advisory board of The Garvan Research Foundation and chairman of the Commonwealth Studies Conference.
Citigroup Country Officer Australia and Citibank Australia chief executive officer, Les Matheson, said Mr Warburton's appointment would significantly expand the strategic business focus of the board. "He brings an unparalleled breadth of experience across multiple industries and knowledge of the Australian market place."
Citibank Pty Ltd board chairman Ron Bunker said: "We are very pleased to welcome Dick to the Citibank board. His appointment is significant for Citibank; his vast experience gained over many years in some of Australia's most important companies complements the current board structure."
Mr Warburton said he was delighted to be invited to join Citibank Pty Ltd. "I look forward to working with Citibank. It is a company with a strong and successful Australian operation and particularly talented and enthusiastic staff."
Mr Warburton is a former chairman and CEO of Du Pont Australia and New Zealand, and worked with Du Pont for 30 years in marketing, manufacturing, technical and management roles in Australia, USA and Thailand. He was a board member of the Reserve Bank of Australia, chairman of David Jones Ltd, Goldfields Ltd and Wool International and a director of Southcorp Ltd and other companies.
The Citibank Pty Ltd board currently has three external directors including chairman, Ron Bunker, Norman Craig and Dick Warburton and two internal directors including Les Matheson, Citigroup Corporate and Investment Banking chief executive officer Stephen Roberts.
