| Sydney, March 19, 2003: Citigroup has announced two senior appointments for Citigroup Australia including Les Matheson as Citigroup Australia Country Officer and Stephen Roberts to the newly created role as Head of the Global Corporate and Investment Bank in Australia. |
| In addition to his new position as Citigroup Country Officer, Les is Managing Director of Citibank's Australian Consumer Banking operations, based in Sydney. Les joined Citigroup in Taiwan in 1997, and has held a number of senior management roles based in Singapore and Tokyo including business head of branch banking in Japan from 1999 to 2001. Since taking over as managing director in Australia in January 2002, Citibank Consumer Bank earnings have grown by more than 30 percent. |
| As Citigroup Country Officer, Les has responsibility for Citigroup Australia country representation and business coordination. |
| And in line with the continuing integration of Citigroup's institutional businesses, Stephen Roberts returns to Australia as Head of the Global Corporate and Investment Bank which, from April 7, 2003, will operate under the Citigroup banner. |
| This is part of the global rebranding of the majority of the institutional businesses of Salomon Smith Barney (SSB) and Citibank Corporate Bank to Citigroup. The Citibank Consumer Bank remains Citibank and the research and private client functions of SSB will be branded Smith Barney. |

| "The recent strategic changes to the structure of our institutional business in Australia gives us the opportunity to develop a more integrated approach to our businesses and to provide our clients with a more comprehensive product offering," Mr Roberts said. |
| Shayne Elliott, formerly Citigroup Country Officer and Head of Citibank's Corporate Bank in Australia, takes up the position of Regional Head of Global Transaction Services - Asia Pacific.
