At Citibank we understand changing your banking can be complicated and would like to help make it as easy as possible. For that reason, we have put together a step-by-step guide for you to follow, with useful links and letter templates to advise others of your new banking details.
Information you will need
A copy of a recent bank statement from your old Bank. You will need this for:
Your old bank account details - account number and BSB.
To identify regular credits and debits made into your old bank account.
You new Citibank Plus Transaction Account number - You can find your account number by using your ATM card number and PIN to log onto Citibank Online. Your Citibank BSB is 242-200.
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Transfer your salary The first step will be to advise your employer and/or payroll department of your new Citibank Plus Transaction Account number and BSB. There may be a form your employer requires you to complete, otherwise you can use our Salary Credit Form provided.

Step 2
Transfer regular direct credits If you have other payments made directly into your bank account, such as dividend payments, government benefits, or rental income you will need to transfer them. To do so contact each organisation making these payments to change your account details.

Step 3
Redirect regular payments You will need to cancel regular automatic payments, for example a home loan or personal loan repayment from your old bank account and set them up with your new Citibank Account. To set up new payments from your Citibank account simple log onto Citibank Online and select "Set up a standing order."
Step 4
Transfer direct debits To change regular direct debit payments such as your insurance or health cover you will need to contact each company to advise them of your new Citibank account details. There may be specific forms you are required to complete so we recommend you contact the company to find out how this should be changed.
Note: we recommend you leave a residual balance in your old bank account until all direct debits have been transferred successfully to your new Citibank account.

Step 5
Close your old account Before you complete this last step, refer back to your old bank account statement to make sure you have changed all credits, debits and other regular payments. Once this has occurred you should close your old account to avoid incurring fees. Your bank may accept written notice or require you to visit the local bank to officially close your old account.
